Boundaries defined before launch
The first governance question for any autonomous SDR is not what it can do, but what it is allowed to do, and when that gets decided. A well-governed system asks you to define the boundaries before it acts: the audience, the channels, the compliance rules and the limits of its authority. Autonomy inside clear boundaries is very different from autonomy with none.
This is the model Sellora AI is built on. You set the boundaries first, and inside them the autonomous Virtual SDR executes the eligible SDR actions on its own. When you evaluate a vendor, ask exactly where those lines are drawn, who draws them, and whether they are set before the first message goes out or discovered after something goes wrong.
An audit trail of every action
Autonomy without a record is a liability. If a system is sending emails, placing calls and booking meetings on your behalf, you need to be able to answer, after the fact, what it did, to whom and when. That is what an audit trail is for, and it is not optional for anything that acts autonomously.
Ask to see it. A credible AI SDR records the eligible actions it takes so you can review them, reconstruct any single prospect's history and demonstrate to your own stakeholders that the system stayed inside its boundaries. Sellora AI records the actions it executes in an audit trail for exactly this reason.
Calling windows, DNC and data handling
Outbound touches regulated territory, and the details matter. On voice, ask how the system handles legal calling windows and do-not-call lists: whether you can set permitted hours per region, whether suppression lists are respected, and whether calls to ineligible numbers are prevented rather than merely discouraged.
On data, ask what happens to your prospect data and your business context. Two questions in particular are worth pressing on: how the data is handled and stored, and whether your data is used to train shared models. A vendor should be clear that customer data is not used to train models. If the answer is vague, treat that as an answer.
Escalation and access control
Finally, ask about the seams between the system and your team. Escalation is one: when a prospect responds in a way that belongs with a human, or a situation falls outside the system's remit, there should be a defined path for it to reach a person rather than the machine pressing on regardless. Sellora AI is designed to hand the meeting and everything after it to your team, which is the clearest escalation boundary of all.
Access control is the other. Not everyone in your organisation should be able to change the boundaries, launch outreach or read the audit trail. Role-based access means the people who can adjust what the system does are the people who are supposed to. Together, escalation and access control keep an autonomous system accountable to the humans who own it.
Sellora AI is a fully autonomous Virtual SDR built to handle everything before the sales meeting, from prospect discovery and research to personalised outreach, live AI calls, follow-up, qualification and meeting booking.
